If you arrived from a roundup describing Lindy as an AI employee or AI workforce platform, neither phrase appears on Lindy’s homepage as of August 2026. A real low-code flow editor does still live in docs.lindy.ai — triggers, actions, conditions, agent steps, looping, memory, evals, a test panel and version history — so the ceiling is higher than the marketing implies. But a team evaluating Lindy as an agent platform gets little guidance from the site it lands on.

Why teams compare Lindy before standardizing
None of these are complaints about Lindy doing its job badly. Each is a case where the job in front of you is a different job.
Orchestration depth for multi-agent work
Lindy's docs cover agent steps, looping and conditions — but also advise using agent steps "only when the next steps are genuinely uncertain" and warn they are "more expensive and potentially less reliable than standard actions." If several specialists must hand work to each other, you want that as the primary pattern, not the escape hatch.
Run-level observability and cost visibility
Lindy documents debugging, a test panel, version history and agent monitoring — more than most assistants ship. What it does not publish is what a plan buys: capacity appears only as "Standard usage", "3x more usage" and "7x more usage", with tasks at 1–3 credits on basic models and around 10 on large ones.
Governance and audit as usage spreads
Lindy publishes a strong posture for its size: SOC 2 Type II with the auditor named, GDPR, HIPAA and PIPEDA claims, and a promise that it does not sell your data or train on it. But SSO, SCIM, audit logs and a signed BAA sit at Enterprise, no data region is named, and deployment is multi-tenant SaaS only.
A pricing model you can forecast at scale
Flat cost at $49.99–$199.99 suits one person. Across a team it is harder: credits do not roll over between cycles, agents pause when you run out, and overage is charged at 2x your plan's standard rate. Weigh that against execution-, activity- or run-based meters first.
Six criteria that decide these evaluations
Feature checklists are near-useless here — every vendor ships the same nouns. These six questions separate them, and every option below is described against the same six.
1. Integration breadth
Not the headline number — the specific systems your workflow touches. Counts are published inconsistently, so search each directory for your CRM and warehouse by name.
2. Build experience
Who builds and maintains this? Chat, canvas, natural-language generation and code paths all exist here. The answer depends on whether the owner is an ops lead or an engineer.
3. Orchestration depth
Can agents hand work to each other, branch, loop, retry and pause for a human — as first-class concepts? Assistants and multi-agent platforms diverge sharply here.
4. Governance
SSO, SCIM, RBAC, audit logs, approvals and data residency. Note which tier each unlocks at: most governance here is Enterprise-gated, so that tier is the real price.
5. Pricing transparency
What is the meter, and is the allowance published? Credits, Actions, activities, executions and runs are not comparable. Rollover and overage rules matter as much as the price.
6. Production evidence
Traces, evals, version history, approvals and per-run cost. If you cannot see what an agent did and what it cost, you cannot defend it — or scale it past one team.

Relevance AI composes task-specific agents into multi-agent Workforces — its docs’ phrase is “multi-agent workflows with Triggers, conditions, and agent-to-agent handoffs.” It is the most direct answer to the orchestration gap, and it is addressable three ways: a drag-and-drop canvas, a natural-language generator called Invent, and programmatically over MCP from Claude Code, Codex or Cursor. Residency is chosen at signup — US, EU/UK or Australia — and LLM usage is billed at wholesale with no markup.
Trade-off: as of August 2026 the public pricing page shows only Enterprise with a “Talk to sales” CTA; the Free, Pro and Team ladder survives in the docs, so confirm availability before budgeting. Two meters must be forecast — Actions and Vendor Credits, with different rollover rules — and the region cannot be changed later.

3. Zapier Agents
If Lindy’s limit is reach rather than depth, Zapier is the obvious move. Its app directory read “9922+ apps” in August 2026 and Agents markets work across 9,000+ of them. Agents are configured in plain English with Zapier Copilot, and agent usage is metered separately from Zap tasks — in activities — so experiments do not eat the automation budget. Free includes 400 activities a month.
Trade-off: agent capacity is small and hard-capped per run — 10 activities per run on Free, 40 on Pro and Enterprise — and almost every meaningful step counts as one. There is a 500-message daily chat limit, and Zapier retired “behaviors” in favour of agents grouped into pods, stating agents “will move to focus on automation instead of chat.”

4. n8n
n8n is the answer when data cannot leave your network. It is source-available, self-hostable via Docker, and pairs a visual node canvas with inline JavaScript and Python — its headline is “AI agents and workflows you can see and control.” The billing unit is the whole execution: “It doesn’t matter how many steps are in the workflow or how much data it processes — it’s still a single execution.” For long, many-step agent runs that is markedly cheaper than credit- or task-based metering.
Trade-off: it is a technical tool, and the licence is source-available rather than OSI open source — you may not resell it or host it as a paid service without a separate agreement. There is a large step from Pro at 50 EUR/month to Business at 667 EUR/month, where SSO, environments and Git version control begin. A v3.0 release is documented as planned for October 2026 and will require Docker-based deployment.

5. Gumloop and 6. Stack AI
Gumloop is a no-code visual canvas for business teams — “Understanding a task should be the only prerequisite to automating it.” Its distinguishing commercial move is unlimited seats on Pro at $37/month, so cost scales with credits consumed rather than headcount. Trade-off: credits make real cost depend on workflow complexity, Pro caps concurrency at 5 runs and 25 agent chats, and there is no permanent free plan — only a 14-day trial. Choose it when many people build but total volume is moderate.
Stack AI aims one level up the org chart: “Where IT teams bring secure AI to work.” It publishes multi-tenant, VPC and on-premise deployment, and states SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, GDPR and ISO 27001 on its own site. A free tier gives 500 runs a month for evaluation. Trade-off: there is no published self-serve paid tier — the ladder is Free or Enterprise, so growing past evaluation means a sales cycle with no public cost anchor. Choose it when deployment must land in your own VPC or data centre and compliance is gating.

These meters are not comparable units

An n8n execution covers an entire workflow regardless of steps; a Zapier activity is a single action; a Lindy task costs 1–3 credits on basic models and around 10 on large ones. Lindy is a good product with a clear point of view. These are the trade-offs a buyer standardizing a team would actually hit.

- Multi-channel by default: the Plus plan bullet is literally "Chat via iMessage / SMS", unusual where everyone else assumes a dashboard.
- Strong published compliance for its size: SOC 2 Type II with the auditor named, plus GDPR, HIPAA and PIPEDA claims.
- Explicit data promise — Lindy states it does not sell your data, and that it and its providers do not use it to train models.
- Human review is the default for outbound: Lindy drafts emails and messages for you to approve before anything sends.

A firsthand 2025 review of Lindy’s builder by Annika Helendi concluded that “some automations are still better suited for traditional workflow builders like Make.com.” It predates the current assistant-first positioning and describes the builder rather than the assistant — but it matches the pattern here: Lindy is strongest at the job it markets.
Five steps to a decision you can defend
About two weeks of part-time effort, and it saves a great deal of rework. Do it in this order.
Write down the three jobs
Name the three workflows that must work: trigger, systems touched, what a human approves, what failure costs. If all three are inbox, calendar and meeting admin, Lindy is probably still your answer.
Score integrations against your real stack
Search each vendor's directory for your CRM, helpdesk, warehouse and internal APIs by name. Ignore headline counts. Note where you would fall back to HTTP requests or webhooks.
Build the same workflow twice
Take the second-most-valuable job and build it on two shortlisted platforms, a day each. Two builds tell you more about orchestration depth and error handling than any demo.
Instrument cost and failure before you scale
Run each build fifty times on realistic inputs and record cost per run, latency and failure modes. Cheap per execution can be expensive per credit, and the reverse.
Settle governance, then cut over in parallel
Ask which tier unlocks SSO, SCIM, RBAC, audit logs and a signed BAA, and whether residency can be chosen. Then run both systems two weeks, export your task history, and time cancellation to a renewal date — Lindy credits do not roll over.

If you remember one line, make it this: Lindy is an excellent assistant and a secondary agent platform, so the right comparison depends entirely on which of the two you are buying. Teams that only ever needed admin help are well served staying put. Teams whose second and third use cases look like business processes — several agents, several systems, an approval step and a cost line someone will ask about — are better served where orchestration and observability are the product rather than the substrate.
A middle path is common and perfectly reasonable: keep Lindy for personal admin, and standardize team workflows somewhere with run traces and audit logs.
